SILENT FORCE Singer Says The Group's New Album Is More Diverse
November 7, 2004SILENT FORCE singer D.C. Cooper (ex-ROYAL HUNT) recently spoke to Regis Behe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review about the group's latest album, "Worlds Apart", and their touring plans.
Produced by Dennis Ward, who has worked with Cooper on his solo albums and with the bands PINK CREAM 69 and EDENBRIDGE, "Worlds Apart" is a slight departure from previous SILENT FORCE albums.
"It's more vocal-oriented," Cooper said. "The band and the producer and myself, we had long discussions. Obviously, my more successful days were with ROYAL HUNT, and that music was more vocal-oriented, and that's the direction they wanted to take. I'm really pleased with it. ... I think overall, it's an album that can be listened to by fans of quite a few genres — compared to the last album, 'Infatuator', which was pretty much straight-ahead, fist-in-the-air metal."
Cooper says this style of music is more suited to him than some of the heavier metal he's done in the past.
"I think it's a lot more fun," he said. "In a way, it is more challenging to make sure your melodies are available to fit, to go from a lower baritone to a high soprano note, going three full octaves in two steps. It's a bit more tricky to make sure that it works, that it doesn't sound like an edit or a cut." Read more.
